Editorial Policy: Where Our Figures for Spain Come From

Spanish tuition depends on the region, the university, the programme and your residence status, so a figure without its source is not much use. Here is how we work.

In this guide 4 sections
  1. Our sources
  2. How we calculate fees
  3. What we mark as uncertain
  4. Corrections and updates

Our sources

  1. Regional price decrees that set public university fees for each academic year, for example Madrid's Decreto 43/2022 and Catalonia's Decret 96/2026.
  2. University and business-school fee pages, read for the year shown.
  3. Spanish law and government: the Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE), the Ministry of Education's homologación pages, the Spanish Embassy in New Delhi and the Consulate General in Mumbai.
  4. Indian bodies: the Association of Indian Universities for degree equivalence, and the Ministry of External Affairs for apostilles.

Every page lists the sources used and the date we read them.

How we calculate fees

Public universities charge per ECTS credit. Where a university publishes only the credit price, we multiply it by 60 credits to give a first-year figure and say so. Rupee amounts use the European Central Bank reference rate on the date shown; banks add a margin, so allow a few per cent more.

What we mark as uncertain

Some universities do not publish a separate price for non-EU students, some programmes are partly in Spanish, and some pages could not be read for the current year. In those cases the table says so instead of guessing.

Corrections and updates

Regions publish new price decrees between June and August. We revise fee pages after that and change the date at the top. To report an error, email [email protected] with the page link.
