Homologación, UNEDasiss and PCE: How an Indian Class 12 Student Gets Into a Spanish Public University

Step by step

1. Apostille and translate

   Class 10 and 12 certificates and marks: MEA apostille, official Spanish translation.

2. Apply for homologación

   Online with the Ministry of Education or at a Spanish consulate registry, any time of year. Download the volante condicional, a conditional receipt that lets you continue while the file is pending.

3. UNEDasiss accreditation

   Apply between 4 February and 1 December. Applicants from outside the EU must have applied for homologación; a provisional accreditation is issued while it is pending.

4. PCE exams

   Register for up to 6 of 25 subjects; the 2026 ordinary call was in late May, with a September call.

5. Pre-enrol

   Apply to universities through each region's system in June–July with your UNEDasiss grade.

How the grade works

UNEDasiss converts your Class 12 result into a Spanish grade out of 10. For degrees with more applicants than places, universities weight up to two PCE subjects relevant to the degree, adding up to 4 points, so the maximum is 14. Each university publishes its weighting table; for medicine and other competitive degrees the cut-off is often above 12.

Common problems

• Applying late: without the volante condicional you cannot get a UNEDasiss accreditation.
• Missing subjects: homologación compares your Class 12 subjects with the Bachillerato; gaps can delay or limit it.
• Language: most public bachelor's are in Spanish; UC3M and UPF are the main English exceptions.
